Meet The Illustrator
Sara Martin is a Long Island-based artist and graphic designer. Let’s Sit Down and Meditate is Sara’s first foray into illustrating children’s books. Illustrating a book has been a lifelong goal of Sara’s, and it’s surreal for her to see a childhood dream come to be.
The road to this point has been full of inspiration. Sara grew up with two very creative parents who met in art school when they were teenagers. They joke that Sara could draw people and animals before she could walk or talk. And it’s true! Sara’s mother would doodle with a crayon to capture Sara’s attention when she was in her highchair and wouldn’t eat. Eventually, Sara took the crayon and started to mimic what her mom was drawing (focusing on it hard enough to not notice her mother shoveling food into her mouth). This led to a love of drawing . . . and food! Nowadays when Sara isn’t creating art, she’s checking out local restaurants or trying new recipes at home with her husband.
Art is something that has always been part of Sara’s life, and she is so grateful to have a support system in her friends and family who encourage her to continue pursuing her creativity. Sara hopes that the simple, whimsical artwork in this book will inspire young minds to follow their own creative endeavors.

“Wonderful message with beautiful illustrations! As a parent, I found this book has helped my six year old find a mediation practice and become more comfortable talking about her inner thoughts and feelings. As an educator, I appreciate both the focus of the content and the language used to give children the tools we need as humans to process our world and find happiness. I’m very glad I made this purchase.”
