Meet The Author

Katie Stoeckeler grew up in the small village of Ellenville, New York. She loved listening to music, playing sports, and most of all, reading. In college, Katie studied elementary education and went on to earn her Master’s of Science in Special Education and Literacy. During her time teaching various teaching settings in Westchester, New York, Katie also coached and tutored.

Ten years into working four jobs seven days a week, everything caught up to her and she realized her lifestyle was not sustainable. After a career change, yoga teacher training, and a silent meditation retreat, Katie realized the profound impact of mindful living, particularly meditation.

She is currently deepening her personal and professional practices as student and teacher trainee at the Mindfulness Center at Brown. She is working to become a certified teacher of MBSR, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, an 8-week evidence-based program that offers secular, intensive mindfulness training to assist people with stress, anxiety, depression, and pain.

At Katie’s yoga studio, Peace in Piermont, she tests out all of her ideas with her young students. Katie aspires to spread the countless benefits of yoga, meditation, and practicing self-care in each of the books she writes.

“As a newbie to meditation who would like to teach her own child, this book does an excellent job to explain the how to’s and benefits of this peaceful practice in kid-friendly language with beautiful, diverse illustrations. The book also contains enrichment activities and discussions to take it a step further. Can’t wait to ‘give my brain a bath’!”
